Fire fighting has always had an element of risk attached to it, but never more so than today. The amount of plastics and their derivatives within households and commercial premises, coupled with advanced insulation methods, makes the cocktail even more lethal.

Our system was developed to enable an early attack on a fire. With our system fire fighters need not initially enter the danger zone as, by cutting though a wall, door, roof or window and spraying a fine mist of water, the fire is cooled and contained.  Conventional fire fighting techniques may then be employed.

It produces a working pressure 300bar and uses up to just 50 litres of water per minute. It uses an abrasive with the water to cut through any material extremely quickly. After the cutting the abrasive is turned off by the operator, enabling a fine water mist to be immediately projected up to eighty metres into the affected area.

Hot gases produced in a fire can reach a temperature of around 900°C quickly and with the use of COBRA that temperature can be reduced to 90°C in something like twenty five seconds without opening the building and risking backdraft or flashover Cobra has been proved to be effective on fires with all types of risk

  • With grass fires the ground may be penetrated with water to a depth of five metres

  • Where there is difficult access as with ships and warehouses

  • Where there is flashover potential

  • Where there is offensive ventilation

  • Where there are compressed gas cylinder risks

  • With thermal imaging equipment identifying hot spots in, for example, sandwich panels, chimney fires and old buildings

COBRA is a fairly new concept which has the potential to revolutionise the approach to fire fighting in the UK. It drastically improves the safety of fire fighters and when its capabilities are fully understood it will be recognised for its contribution to safety, its effectiveness in dealing with difficult fire situations and its environmental benefits
